Dr. Emma Siddall, Educational Psychologist
I started my career by obtaining a first class honours degree in Psychology at Birmingham University. I then worked as an assistant clinical psychologist for a year. This was followed by working as a teaching assistant for a year. Next I obtained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and then worked for two years as a primary school teacher for a Local Authority.
I have completed the three year Doctorate in Educational Psychology at Cardiff University and have obtained chartered status with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am registered with the Health Professional Council (HPC) and I am a member of the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP).
I am based in Bristol and take clients from many areas of the South West (e.g., Somerset, Bristol). I am currently working part time for Bath and North East Somerset Educational Psychology Service (BANES EPS). I work from Tuesday through to Friday for BANES EPS so I am free on Mondays to work with children, young people and adults of all ages. I am not permitted to work with children attending schools in the BANES area due to a conflict of interest. This includes private schools in this area.
What is Psychology?
Psychology is about how people think, feel and behave.
What is an Educational Psychologist (EP)?
An EP is a person who tries to understand how children and young people develop their skills and learn.
EPs have all studied psychology, child development and learning.
My vision is that all children and young people are physically and emotionally healthy, motivated to learn and feel safe enough in their environment to develop and achieve their potential. I aim to support and challenge schools, early years settings, parents and carers to meet the diverse needs of children and young people by identifying and removing barriers to learning. This vision is underpinned by national strategies which include those from the Department for Education, Every Child Matters and The Lamb Inquiry.
I have current enhanced police checks, comprehensive private indemnity insurance and I am registered under the Data Protection Act with the Information Commissioner Office.
If you have any queries or just want to discuss how I could help, I would be pleased to hear from you.
